Extremely low income households: Exceeds the 20% policy guidelines

The most useful information I examined in the census data was the information that correlated the size of unit with gross rent. From this, it was possible to determine how many households would fall within the 30% AMI rents, as published by the Office of Housing.

From this analysis, it appears that the number of households with rents below the 30% level exceeds the guidelines of 20% for total number of extremely low income subsidized units within an area.

If the DESC project is constructed, the addition of 75 extremely low income units will have a dramatic effect on the neighborhood, raising the percentage to 26.4%.
